CONSUMER : DRIVING CONSIDERATIONS IN ANIMAL PROTEIN PRODUCTION

Gen Z generation of consumers embraces technology, expects innovation and demands engagement. Direct to consumer ( DTC) processed food producers have a definite advantage where they can use consumer feedback to continuously improve product formulations. Giving people an impression that their voice is being heard , gives them a new reason to try a product again, even if they didn’t like it the first time. This model – digital feedback loop for ongoing product innovation will create an opportunity for animal protein companies to improve their engagement and products.

Online shopping.

COVID-19 is a pivot point for consumers that marks the shift of in-person supermarket shopping as the dominant retail channel to consumers buying food and meat online. Research shows consumers now spend 30 minutes or less on preparation, rely more on online shopping with delivery and/or pick-up. Technology is food shopping is here to stay. This is an opportunity for the animal protein sector to meet (or create) unmet needs through innovation. Is animal protein center of the plate, a meal stretcher or a snack? The answer is yes to all three and more. The real question is, which animal protein companies will be innovative enough to capture this opportunity.

As food producers, a key area is communication with the end consumer. And that will be possible only if there is an understanding of where the consumer is coming from.

Get Benefit of Acidifiers in Poultry - Advanced Bio-Agro Tech Ltd

It is said that major portion of immunity is in gut, the interaction of organic acid with gut microbiota positively influences the gut associated lymphoid tissue. It’s been observed that addition of organic acids in feed improves the resistance to pathogen, vaccine response/ protection and general health beyond the intestine.

The overall benefit of acidifiers in poultry is far greater in comparison to AGP, since the acids used are weak acid the safety margin during handling and consumption are also high. Keeping all the advantages of acidifier over AGPs, ACIPLEX was formulated.

ACIPLEX: ACIPLEX is an innovative acidifier in poultry based on synergistically combination of organic acids and their salts such as Fumaric acid, Citric acid, Calcium propionate, Sodium citrate & Sodium formate. is having non corrosive and non-stringent properties.

Effect of Acidifiers in Poultry

Feed acidulants are acids contained in feed to inhibit the growth of pathogenic gut microbes by lowering the pH of the feed, gut and microbial cytoplasm. This suppression reduces the microflora that competes for host nutrients and results in better growth and performance of the chicken. Some of them also act as antifungal agents. They add up to 0.25% of the diet. Most acids have an effect and that effect remains unless the acid is volatilized. The antibacterial effects of organic acid ions that control bacterial populations in the upper intestinal tract result in beneficial effects.

Get Benefits of Probiotics in Poultry Gut Health

Probiotics are living microorganisms which when administered in adequate amount confer health benefits on the host.  Probiotics are one of the more efficient methods of pathogen control and have not detrimental effects to the environment as antibiotics. The benefits include improved gut histomorphology, increase in beneficial microbiota, improved immunity, enhanced growth and laying performance.

Benefits of Probiotics:

·         Promotes optimal development of gut microbiota especially post-hatch.

·         Re-establishes balanced gut microflora during post-antibiotic application.

·         Reduces incidence of wet litter and pasty vent.

·         Improves weight gain and feed conversion in broilers.

·         Helps to maintain consistent egg production in layers and breeders.

·         Effectively reduces early chick morbidity and mortality.

·         Effectively replaces AGPs.

·         Zero withdrawal period and can be administered throughout the life cycle.

Xylanase: A way to curb menacing effect of NSPs

The poultry industry is one of the most dynamic industries in the agricultural business world, and feed is the backbone of this industry. However, with feed raw material prices rising, making quality feed at affordable prices has become a challenge for the poultry industry. Another option for minimizing the impact of rising conventional feed ingredient prices is to use unconventional feed ingredients. Most of these products contain high levels of plant cell wall (non-starch polysaccharides) (NSPs) that are not digested by endogenous enzymes, but we can overcome this problem by supplementing exogenous NSPase depending on the source of proteins in poultry.
